A Budding Photographer
I have been interested in photography since I was a child and always have had an interest in children & babies specifically. My one sister is 10 years younger than I am, so when she was about 5 or 6 years old she would model for me. She had on cute pajamas, hugged teddy bears and would pose however I asked. She was a great little model and loved seeing her pictures after getting them printed. I still have a couple of these prints and look at them every now and then – what great memories of a budding photographer.
Looking back I would have to say I was on the right track with those photographs – lighting, posing, props and I always looked for the little details. It’s almost like it came naturally for me to be shooting portraits and that is still with me today. Now-a-days, my portrait style is much different – I focus on the natural/everyday photo of a child instead of a static/posed one. This type of photography brings life and emotion to the subject and gives the viewer a better insight into who they are in life, whereas a posed photo is capturing their physical attributes for the most part.
Right now my family is growing by leaps and bounds and there is certainly no shortage of children and babies to photograph. Everyone is very used to me taking photos of their children during every event – yes, I do it for scrapbooking but I also do it so I can have these portraits printed and framed for my home. These are just a couple of my favorite photographs that I thought I would share with you all – Top: (L) Lucas (R) Shawn; Bottom (L) Jordan (R) Tyler & Henry. Obviously, Shawn is my son and the others are my niece and nephews. I have a frame that hangs in my bedroom that includes these 4 photographs and I love that each one captures a special little bit of their personality too.
