Christmas Memories: Christmas Eve
Day 24 of 25 Days of Christmas
Let me start off by saying this: Kids move FAST (especially these 4) when it comes to opening up their gifts. It gives me no time to worry about lighting and everything else that would produce a technically good photo. I am lucky to get what I get. They are also super grainy because I have my ISO cranked to make sure my photos aren’t super blurry. It doesn’t always work well. Anyway….
We celebrate Christmas with my Dad, Step-Mom Becky, my sisters Jennifer (and my niece Jordan) and Jessica (and her boyfriend Derek) and one of my Step-Brother Mike’s family. It’s always a fun time and Shawn has a great time playing with his cousins. There is usually a few tears throughout the evening but also a lot of laughter and funny conversation.
Shawn got some really get projects for us to work on together. Science projects and kits and this really near K’Nex Rollercoaster too. He will have a ton of fun this winter working on it all while we spend more time indoors.
It was also my niece Sofia’s 1st Christmas. Shawn and Sofia share the same birthday, so it brought back a lot of memories of Shawn’s 1st Christmas. We had a really great time with everyone this year. 🙂
When we got home it was off to bed for Shawn and this was the 1st time he actually had a super difficult time falling asleep. Past years he was able to go to sleep without a problem but as he’s aged, the anticipation of Santa coming and presents in the morning have really kicked in. I can’t tell you how many times I had to lay in bed with him and it wasn’t until Michael laid down him that he could finally go to sleep. I know that feeling all too well because I couldn’t ever sleep on Christmas Eve and even now as an adult, I have a difficult time too.
