Throwback Thursday – “Corn Soup”
(Day #28: 30-Day Blog Challenge)
Finding those old photos to share every Thursday.
I want to say this photo is from 1985/86, so would make me around 5/6 years old and that’s my sister Jennifer about 2 years old. We are standing in my Grandma’s dining room. This photo has nothing to do with the story I am going to tell today though.
I have mentioned a few times that we spent a lot of time at my Grandma & Grandpa’s house. They lived out in the middle of nowhere, so even though we brought toys to play with, we always had to find ways to entertain ourselves. One particular memory stands out above the rest and mostly because it gets brought up frequently at family parties.
I was about 3/4 years old and I was playing outside in the backyard. In the back of the house there were wooded areas and there were weeds growing on the side of the driveway. I am not sure what they were but they produced these little yellow balls on the top. I would pick these and mix them up in my bowl and make “corn soup”. I would then go peddling my “food” to every person in the house. This became a regular thing for a long time and apparently it was pretty memorable because 30 years later, someone always manages to bring it up. 🙂
A few weeks ago Shawn was with his cousin Jordan and they spent the afternoon mixing up “potions”, so it totally reminded me of my “corn soup” so I knew that I needed to share this story too.
